11th December 24
The Prince’s Mead community came together for a truly magical afternoon at Winchester College’s New Hall for our annual Carol Service. This cherished event brought pupils, staff, families, and friends together to celebrate the joy and meaning of Christmas.
The Reverend Simon Cansdale, from Christ Church Winchester, joined us to deliver an inspiring Christmas sermon. In his message, he encouraged pupils to think deeply about the joy of giving, sharing that, “What really makes someone smile is that it is a present bought with love, with thoughtfulness and with individual attention to them.” His words resonated with everyone in the hall and set the tone for the festive occasion.
The afternoon was filled with incredible performances that showcased the exceptional talent within our school. Highlights included:
The service also featured poignant readings, with contributions from the Head Boy, Head Girl, selected pupils across all year groups, and notable members of the Prince’s Mead community. Mrs Renwick, our Chair of Governors, Mr King, the Headmaster, M. Greenaway, the Deputy Headmaster, and our incoming Chair of Governors, Mr Lowe, all shared readings.
The glow of lanterns made by the Art Club, the warmth of heartfelt music, and the sense of togetherness made this Carol Service a memorable and uplifting experience for all who attended. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved in bringing this special evening to life, and to our wonderful families for their continued support.
As we look ahead to the holiday season, may the spirit of love, joy, and generosity shared during our Carol Service stay with us all.
Merry Christmas from all at Prince’s Mead!
