The atmosphere was electric at this year’s Winchester Primary Schools Swimming Gala, with schools from across the region converging for a thrilling day of aquatic excellence. Our talented swimmers made a big splash — delivering courage, composure, and some truly spectacular performances in the water!
Our boys’ relay team put on a sensational show in the freestyle relay, surging ahead to finish second in a nail-biting race that had the crowd roaring. Unfortunately, a slight misstep during the changeover saw the team downgraded to sixth place — a tough blow after such a commanding swim, but a valuable learning experience that showcased both their speed and spirit.
The girls’ relay team were models of consistency and grit, powering through the competition to secure third place in both the medley and freestyle relays. Their teamwork, precision, and determination were on full display, earning well-deserved podium finishes in two hotly contested races.
In the Year 4 25m freestyle, Willa delivered a performance for the ages, charging down the lane with grace and speed. In a heart-stopping photo finish, she was just pipped at the post — missing out on gold by mere millimetres! Willa’s silver medal swim was nothing short of heroic and promises great things for the future.
Meanwhile, Tristan left no doubt about his intentions from the moment he hit the water. With a smooth, powerful stroke and effortless control, he stormed to victory in the boys’ 25m freestyle, making it look like a leisurely dip rather than a competitive race. A commanding performance that earned cheers from every corner of the pool!
