New Headmaster

30th August 18

Prince’s Mead welcomes a new starter this term as newly appointed Head Mr Peter Thacker takes over the reins from long-serving retired Headmistress Miss Penelope Kirk.

Having grown up in the New Forest, the former deputy head of Lambrook School, Ascot, Berks, is the perfect man for the top job at the co-educational day school in Winchester, which is rated as “excellent” by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

Father-of-two Mr Thacker said: “I am privileged to have the opportunity to build on Miss Kirk’s extraordinary success in creating a warm and nurturing environment that puts a love of learning at the heart of its curriculum.”  The keen wildlife adventurer and conservationist added: “My early career in the Army instilled in me the importance of service to others, and my passion for reconnecting children with nature can only serve to strengthen Prince’s Mead’s reputation as a magical place among beautiful rolling Hampshire hills for children to grow and fulfil their natural potential.”
