At Prince’s Mead we believe that providing challenging and adventurous activities, that includes the opportunity to take risk in a controlled environment, will allow our children to successfully work outside their comfort zone and apply their learning in a real life context. This process helps to build the confidence to tackle uncertainty and challenge right across the children’s personal, school and later working lives, thus allowing them to realise their full potential.
Children experience Outdoor Adventurous Activities as part of their weekly Carousel choice in Years 3 to 6, in one of the residential trips in Year 4, 5 and 6 or as part of an extra-curricular club. We are fortunate to have two team building challenge tasks and a zip wire in Gray’s Wood, an Outdoor Classroom as well as an orienteering course set out across the ten acre site. The children certainly leave Year 6 having ‘Fostered a love of the Outdoors’.
