Welcome to the enchanting world of learning and laughter at our Nursery nestled within the heart of Prince's Mead, an independent day school dedicated to enabling every child to flourish in a stimulating and nurturing environment.
The Nursery welcomes children aged 2 to 4 years old into a warm and nurturing setting designed for modern family life. Alongside flexible attendance options and exceptional early years provision, it offers a reassuringly smooth transition for children who go on to join Reception at Prince’s Mead. The children learn through purposeful play, both child-initiated and adult directed, which flows indoors and outdoors.
Set in 13 acres of grounds to the North East of Winchester, within the South Downs National Park, the Nursery benefits from access to the school’s extensive facilities and specialist teachers including a Forest School in Gray’s Wood, a multipurpose sports hall, extensive library, and eclectic music room.
Our Nursery is designed to nurture curiosity, creativity and confidence, setting the stage for a journey of discovery at Prince’s Mead through to 11 years old and King Edward VI through to 18 years old.
Nursery Fees & Funding
Funding will be applied 11am to 4pm with a maximum of 5 hours per day.
Term Time places are eligible for up to 15 hours per week.
Year-round places are eligible up to 22 hours per week. (This is the Government 30 hours entitlement stretched across 51 weeks a year)

Nursery Fees
Payments
Fees are calculated on a termly basis. For families attending year-round, the total can be spread across monthly instalments. All families are also able to use the Government’s Tax-Free Childcare scheme. Further information can be found on the Government website.
Structure of the Day
Our core Nursery hours are 8am until 4pm.
Wrap Around Care Available Daily
Nursery High Tea: 4-5.30pm. £16 per day
Staffing
Our Nursery is led by our Head of Nursery, Anna Clark and supported by a dedicated team of Early Years Practitioners. With enhanced staff-to-child ratios, we ensure every child receives attentive, individual care.

Our Nursery is located in the Coach House at Worthy Park House, an estate with extensive grounds including a dedicated Early Years garden directly accessible from the classroom and age-appropriate playgrounds.

Forest School
In our own woodland, we run and hide, climb and balance. Forest School starts in Nursery and is about empowering children to develop confidence and independence while connecting with the world around them. With mud kitchens, bug hotels, and shelter construction, there is always something to do

Sport
Nursery children have an engaging introduction to sport, led by specialist teachers and utilising the sports hall and expansive sports fields. Through fun games and physical activities, they develop fundamental movement skills, coordination, and a love of being active, all while building confidence.
Performing Arts
Nursery children enjoy weekly music and drama sessions with specialist teachers from our Prep School. They take part in the much-loved Nativity performance and our vibrant Performing Arts Day, both of which celebrate the children’s creativity and growing confidence on stage.

Art
Art is an important part of Nursery life, with children encouraged to explore colour, texture, and materials through a variety of creative projects. From painting and printing to collage and clay, every session is designed to inspire self-expression and spark imagination.

Trips
Our Nursery children enjoy their first adventures beyond the school gates with carefully planned trips that enrich their learning. Highlights include exploring the great outdoors at a local country park and a magical visit to a Christmas performance, experiences that spark wonder, build confidence, and create lasting memories.

Pastoral Care
& Wellbeing
At Prince’s Mead, our aim is to provide the highest quality pastoral care throughout the school and maintain an environment where each pupil can succeed in every aspect of their education as well as to flourish and thrive as an individual.
We have a dedicated Pastoral Care Team, led by our Deputy Head of Pastoral and the Head of Wellbeing who work closely with our Matron, and the ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant).
From the moment a child joins us we want to ensure they flourish and feel a sense of belonging within the Prince’s Mead family.
