We are delighted to announce that Prince's Mead has been commended in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2026 in the category of Independent School of the Year for Student Wellbeing.
This national recognition celebrates the school's commitment to ensuring that every child feels known, valued and supported throughout their educational journey. It is a wonderful acknowledgement of the nurturing culture that sits at the heart of Prince's Mead and reflects the dedication of the entire school community.
The Independent Schools of the Year Awards are among the most respected awards in the education sector, attracting hundreds of entries from schools across the UK. This year saw a record number of submissions, making competition particularly strong. In announcing the commended schools, the organisers described the process of selecting those to progress to the next stage as "harder than ever", highlighting the exceptional quality of entries received. Finalists will be announced in September.Â
At Prince's Mead, wellbeing is not viewed as a separate initiative but as an integral part of everyday school life. From strong pastoral care and a culture of kindness to opportunities for leadership, friendship and personal growth, we believe children flourish when they feel happy, secure and confident.
Our approach to wellbeing is built around creating a genuine sense of belonging. Whether through peer support programmes, outdoor learning opportunities, dedicated emotional support, or the care and encouragement pupils receive from staff every day, we strive to ensure that every child feels able to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
The commendation also comes at an exciting time for the school as we continue to strengthen our wellbeing provision, including the opening of our new Wellbeing Hub later this year. Designed as a welcoming and supportive space, the Hub will further enhance the pastoral care available to pupils and families.
We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition and would like to thank everyone who contributes to making Prince's Mead such a happy and caring place to learn.
Most importantly, this commendation reflects what matters most to us: ensuring that every child leaves Prince's Mead with the confidence, resilience and sense of self-belief needed to thrive in the next stage of their education and beyond.
