Last Friday, the school was buzzing with excitement as Treehouse Theatre visited Prince’s Mead to perform a magical Alice in Wonderland pantomime. From the moment the curtains opened, our pupils were transported down the rabbit hole into a world of curious characters, topsy-turvy adventures and plenty of pantomime laughter.
Before the performance began, the actors led a lively introduction to the traditions of pantomime. The children learned the classic audience calls — including a very enthusiastic “He’s behind you!” — and practised booing the villain with gusto. This short workshop ensured everyone knew exactly how to join in, adding to the fun and building confidence, especially for those who were new to the world of panto.
A highlight of the morning was the chance for some of our pupils to step into the spotlight themselves. Selected children were invited to take part in the performance, playing small roles alongside the actors and helping bring the story to life. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and the whole audience cheered them on as they embraced their moment on stage.
Treehouse Theatre’s visit offered a wonderful blend of creativity, participation and theatrical delight. It was a joy to see our children so fully engaged — laughing, shouting, acting and immersing themselves in a truly memorable experience. A big thank you to the brilliant performers for bringing a little Wonderland magic to Prince’s Mead.
