Last Friday, the U11 Football Team travelled to Stoneham Lane Football Ground to play Sarisbury Junior School in the final of the Hampshire Cup. We were full of excitement and nerves for what lay ahead. After a tough first half for Prince’s Mead, we were 2-0 down. Sarisbury attacked well, and we knew we needed to up our game.
After a deserved, fairly vocal half-time team talk from Mr Arkley and Mr Mac, we found the fire in our bellies and went out in the second half fighting.
A good strike from Olly took a deflection from one of the Sarisbury defenders and we were back in it at 2-1. This led to a very tense final 10 minutes where we threw everything we had at it and came so close… but just not close enough.
Final score: Sarisbury 2, Prince’s Mead 1.
Thank you to the whole squad for an amazing season in getting us to the final of the Hampshire Cup – an achievement to be proud of. Huge thanks for the parent support we had all the way through the tournament, and special thanks to Mr Arkley and Mr Mac – coaches extraordinaire.
Pep Guardiola has nothing on you two!
