We are delighted to announce that Prince's Mead Nursery has been awarded The Smallest Things Prem Aware Award, recognising our successful completion of the PRISM Awareness Course and our commitment to supporting children born prematurely and their families.
The award, presented by the charity The Smallest Things, highlights the importance of understanding the unique challenges that babies born prematurely may face as they grow and develop. Through the PRISM Awareness Course, our Nursery team has enhanced its knowledge of the potential long-term impact of prematurity on a child's development, learning and wellbeing, enabling us to provide informed and compassionate support tailored to individual needs.
Every year, thousands of babies are born prematurely across the UK. While many go on to thrive, some may experience challenges that can affect their physical, social, emotional or educational development. By achieving the Prem Aware Award, our Nursery has demonstrated its commitment to recognising these challenges and ensuring that all children receive the understanding, encouragement and support they need to flourish.
At Prince's Mead, we believe that every child is unique. Creating an inclusive, nurturing environment where all children feel valued, supported and able to reach their full potential is at the heart of everything we do. The knowledge gained through the PRISM Awareness Course will help our staff to better understand the experiences of children born prematurely and work closely with families to ensure their individual needs are met throughout their early years journey.
This recognition reflects the dedication of our Nursery team to continuous professional development and the pursuit of best practice in early years education. By investing in specialist training, we can strengthen the support we provide for our children and families, helping to build confidence, resilience and a positive foundation for future learning.
The award also comes at an exciting time for Prince's Mead Nursery. Following the recent expansion of our Nursery provision, we are pleased to be welcoming children from the age of two. The expansion has created additional opportunities for younger children to benefit from our warm, stimulating environment and experienced Early Years team, helping them develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning from the very start of their educational journey.
As our Nursery continues to grow, achievements such as the Prem Aware Award reinforce our commitment to ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive. We are proud to provide a setting where children and families feel known, valued and supported, and where individual needs are understood and celebrated.
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and of the commitment shown by our Nursery staff in completing the training and championing greater awareness of prematurity. We would also like to thank The Smallest Things for providing this valuable training and for the important work they do in raising awareness of the long-term impact of premature birth.
