This December, the Prince’s Mead School community has been busy spreading festive cheer across Winchester, with pupils and families giving their time, talents, and generosity to support others during the Christmas season.
Year 2 pupils brought smiles and song to the Bluebird Care Winchester, Eastleigh & Romsey Christmas Party in Colden Common, where they performed a selection of joyful musical numbers from their Christmas production. Their confidence, enthusiasm, and singing were met with warm applause from guests, many of whom said the children made their day.
Norman Murphy, Managing Director of Bluebird Care Winchester, Eastleigh & Romsey, said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome the talented Year 2 pupils from Prince’s Mead School to our Christmas party. Their energetic performances and infectious enthusiasm brought a smile to our customers' faces and helped spread the festive spirit. A huge thank you to the children and the school for sharing their talents and making our event even more special for our customers.”
Members of the Prince’s Mead Chamber Choir and Orchestra also took music into the community, visiting the Dower House care home in Kings Worthy. Pupils performed a programme of traditional and contemporary carols, and the residents joined in enthusiastically with maracas and tambourines, filling the home with the spirit of Christmas.
Alongside the musical visits, families across the school once again came together to support the Home-Start charity in Winchester. The Prince’s Mead community donated over 100 gifts for children whose parents are receiving vital support from Home-Start. These presents will ensure that local families facing challenging circumstances feel cared for at this time of year.
Sue Barham, Trustee at Home-Start Winchester and Districts commented:
“We are so grateful to Prince’s Mead for their continued support for our families. The parents, children and staff always provide lovely gifts for Santa to give the children at our Christmas parties. The families are so appreciative of the presents.”
Adam King, Head at Prince's Mead, added:
“Christmas is a time for kindness, connection, and generosity, and I am immensely proud of how our Prince’s Mead community continues to give back. Whether through music, companionship, or thoughtful gifts, our pupils and families have helped make Christmas brighter for others. This spirit of giving is at the heart of who we are as a school.”
