Headmaster’s Notes:

16th March 20

Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.

The advice from Downing Street last night was clear: anyone with a new persistent cough or a high temperature should now self-isolate for seven days.

At this time the resilience of school communities, governments, and the international order, is being tested in a way it has not been for a century. A pandemic poses extraordinary challenges for us all as Government begins to change our mindset to prepare for inevitable disruption to our routines over the next few weeks and months.

But there are also opportunities. We have a golden opportunity to practise resilience in ways in which we will all be involved. Coping with adversity, developing practical solutions, following science-led analysis, retaining humour and humanity (as witnessed aplenty this week from so many members of our school community), will all make for invaluable learning opportunities for our children that will place them in great stead for the future. And we will, of course, get through it.
