Reception

The Early Years Curriculum

Our Nursery and Reception children learn through child-initiated learning following the seven areas of learning:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Physical Development
  • Expressive Arts and Design

We challenge children’s thinking and help them to embrace differences in gender, ethnicity, religion, special educational needs and disabilities. We also value the importance of developing our pupils’ confidence, courtesy and empathy skills so they continue to grow into children who are kind and care for others.

We hold curriculum workshop mornings in the Spring and Summer Terms, parents are invited to work alongside their child and gain some insight into how they learn.

Reception teachers use Tapestry, an app for families to see what their child has been doing each week. You will have been provided with a unique school and child login at the beginning of term, but do contact us if you need that again.

For all other school information, please view our school newsletter, The Link.

Tapestry is an easy-to-use and secure online learning journal helping staff and families celebrate their children’s learning and development. Tapestry builds a very special record of a child’s experiences and journey through their early years, using an online learning journal designed and developed specifically for EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage).
