Headmaster’s Notes: Taking Advantage of Every Opportunity

25th September 20

It was a pleasure to welcome a large number of prospective parents to Prince’s Mead for our virtual Early Years Open Morning last Saturday. Our visiting families were certainly impressed by hearing about the opportunities on offer to our youngest pupils and the standards of education that we pride ourselves upon across the breadth of our Pre-Prep curriculum.

What an excuse to escape school uniform yesterday as we celebrated The European Day of Languages. Led by the Modern Foreign Languages Department, the day promoted rich linguistic diversity and the importance of lifelong language learning for our pupils.

We look forward to meeting a number of our parents next week where we will be outlining some exciting opportunities for our older pupils as part of our extra-curricular offering. More broadly, we want all our pupils to grasp the possibilities and opportunities of life with open hearts and minds. In Friday Prayers this morning, I reminded them that they must see every day as an opportunity; a chance to take risks and a chance to learn and grow. We recognise that the journey as a life-long learner begins the moment a child starts at Prince’s Mead.

Making a positive impact upon the wider community and helping others are central to our Prince’s Mead values and, with Harvest as our focus next week, we can look to be both thankful for what we have and mindful of others, as we support those less fortunate than ourselves in the local area through Winchester Basics Food Bank.

I wish you a very happy weekend.
