Tatler Schools Guide 2021 – The Powerhouse that is Prince’s Mead

10th September 21

Life at the small powerhouse that is Prince’s Mead is not about ‘learning for learning’s sake’, explains a parent: there’s a ‘sense of adventure in the ethos’ of the school. Creative Arts are big here, under the direction of a wonderful new Head of Art, and take place in a stunning space lit with Georgian chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows offering sweeping, magical over the Itchen Valley.  When asked about their favourite things about the school, several children replied ‘the Headmaster!’ – which can only bode well. Peter Thacker also gets a resounding ‘yes’ from parents, who describe him as ‘an enormous asset’ with a clear vision for the school’. ‘Happy, engaged’ children go on to Downe House, Sherborne Girls and Christ’s Hospital.’

We are so proud of our latest review in the Tatler Schools Guide 2021; their annual pick of the top prep schools in the UK. Their particular focus on our Headmaster, Mr Thacker and our Head of Art, Mrs O’Brien is echoed by all of us that work there and bring our children to the school.

‘To go into the Tatler Schools Guide they must offer the whole package – holistic pastoral care, a focus on character education as much as pure academics and the ability to accommodate and nurture all their pupils resulting in well educated, but most importantly, happy children’.
