Headmaster’s Notes: A Platinum Performance

27th May 22

As we head towards our four-day UK bank holiday weekend this half-term, what a delight it was to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s unprecedented 70 years of service in our curriculum this week where we have brought prominence to the mighty contribution our magnificently enduring head of state has given to the service of our country.

Beyond those platinum revelries, we have also celebrated platinum performances this week on stage in our annual LAMDA Drama Festival, gritty determination on the slopes of England’s highest mountain, academic rigour in the classroom and physical competition on the sports fields, reflecting the phenomenal breadth of a Prince’s Mead education.

I do hope Jubilee events this half term will bring together our families and friends, neighbours and communities – after some challenging times as Year 5 highlighted in Friday Prayers this morning – in order to enjoy the celebrations and to reflect upon all that has been achieved over the last 70 years, not only during the Queen’s reign but also for those last 70 years or so since the creation of Prince’s Mead, where dedication to service has been a constant.

Upon our return, if indeed I successfully descend Scafell Pike from where I pen these notes, I certainly look forward to continuing to serve the Prince’s Mead community with all my heart for the final few weeks of this academic year. May I take this opportunity to thank you all for all the support you give to our school community in so many ways.

Wishing you all a most relaxing weekend.

Mr Peter Thacker
