Headmaster’s Notes: Service to others leads to greatness

16th October 20

It has been a very happy and successful start to the academic year and a pleasure to witness the children embracing all that the school has to offer here. These last few weeks seem to have flown by, and so too have the last 25 years for one member of staff. My warmest congratulations to Mrs Edmunds who celebrates 25 years of sterling service to Prince’s Mead in her role as a Teaching Assistant. The dedication to service of all our members of staff, in these most unusual times, is an example to us all. I am immensely grateful to them all for ensuring that we continue to give our pupils the feathers to fly across the breadth of our curriculum. This includes Drama where, yet ago, we have received notice of some outstanding LAMDA results that I am excited to announce on our return.

Welcome back to Year 5 after their cycle expedition through the New Forest yesterday. We want all our pupils to grasp the possibilities and opportunities of life with open hearts and minds. Under resplendent autumn sunshine, this adventure certainly sharped their focus on teamwork, self-reliance, resourcefulness, leadership and responsibility. There are certainly a few sore legs today so well done to all those who took part.

I am very much looking forward to the next half term. We have a great deal to look forward to and the excitement is already building with the prospect of all that is on offer, albeit in a less conventional form in places! In the meantime, a well-deserved break is now upon the school community where I hope there will be time for rest and relaxation. We can’t wait to welcome your children back after half-term, in their winter uniform.
